Advice on Relationships: Dating Tips from the Experts

Advice on Relationships

Getting into a relationship is easy. It is finding the right relationship and maintaining it that takes quite some effort to do. Whether you looking for a relationship or are already part of one, there are a few basic things to keep in mind. Advice on relationships does not guarantee smooth sailing all the way, but it can help you avoid the most common pitfalls.
Some of the best sources of advice are the dating and relationship experts. You may have heard about some of them already; you may have seen them on television, or maybe you have come across their advice columns in newspapers or magazines. Perhaps you have even read the books they have written about dating, marriage, and relationships. They offer plenty of tips, some of which seem so obvious but it is surprising how so many people take some of them for granted, or are unaware of their effects on a relationship.
Dr. Phil’s Advice on Relationships for Single Women
You have seen him on the Oprah Winfrey television show and elsewhere. For the single ladies out there who are looking for their special someone, this is what he has to say. First of all, examine your past relationships and try to find out what your shortcomings were. Learn from them, and adjust your behavior accordingly.
This is not to say you should give your personality a total overhaul. In fact, one of the most common mistakes single people commit is that they change themselves for the person they want to date or are dating. Broadening your views, which may in turn have an effect on your actions, can be good. But do not be something you are not, or engage in behaviors that make you uncomfortable just to attract the attention and interest of somebody else.
David DeAngelo’s Advice on Relationships for Single Men
Many men make the mistake of overwhelming a woman with too much attention during the first days of the dating period. If you tend to call a woman you are interested in every day or shower her with flowers or perhaps send her a card to ask her for a date, then you are most likely to come across as someone who is overly interested. According to David DeAngelo, author of the book “Double Your Dating: What Every Man Should Know About How to Be Successful with Women,” you should let things flow naturally and not to come on too strong at the start.

Another piece of DeAngelo’s advice on relationships: women do not need a clingy man — a “wuss,” in his words. They want someone who challenges them in some way, and being someone who calls every hour of the day to tell her you miss her isn’t challenging, it’s boring.
These are just a few of the many tips or advice on relationships from experts like Dr. Phil and David DeAngelo. Don’t act desperate; challenge their interest; don’t be clingy — sensible hints that will improve your chances of attracting the interest of the man or woman with whom you would be interested in starting a relationship.
